Safety & Health

For the Love of Children 8.0 - Demystifying Mental Health in Children and Teens

DESCRIPTION

For the Love of Children is a child safety awareness programme aimed at educating parents, guardians and child-care providers (educators, nannies, etc.) on contemporary child safety issues.

The 8th edition is here with theme, “Demystifying Mental Health in Children and Teens”.

Situations such as academic pressure, social media influence, family stress and exposure to violence or insecurity are contributing to rising mental health challenges among children and teenagers. Yet, mental health issues remain overlooked, misunderstood, or surrounded by stigma. Many young people struggle silently with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and emotional difficulties that affect their learning, social interactions and overall well-being. This makes it critical to empower parents, caregivers and educators with the tools to understand mental health, identify early warning signs, respond with compassion, and create safe spaces for children and teens.

In line with this, the programme will have the following topics discussed across 3 sessions:
• Understanding mental health issues in children and teens
• Identifying students with mental health struggles and creating effective support systems
• How children and teens get exposed to drugs, the warning signs and how to protect them
