The West African Alternative Care Summit (WAACS) 2026 in Ghana will convene government leaders, policymakers, practitioners, researchers, civil society organizations, faith and community leaders, security agencies, and individuals with lived experience of alternative care.

WAACS 2.0 represents a critical shift from dialogue to measurable implementation. This year’s Summit will focus on practical strategies, policy alignment, technical capacity building, and strengthened regional collaboration to accelerate the transition from institutional care to family-based systems.
