Our humble plea!

The need to guarantee inclusive and peaceful participation in the electoral process can not be overemphasized, given Nigeria's young democracy. It is not news that youth and women make up a huge percentage of our country and remain the most significant players in an electoral process that creates leaders who govern the affairs of the nation. However, in the face of election violence, the groups above, including the elderly and physically challenged people, are the most vulnerable.

Nigerian youth have played a particularly dynamic role in election-related violence, serving as both perpetrators and victims. This could result from poverty and declining societal values, which makes them targets for recruitment by the political class. However, these are only two perspectives, and other factors may equally play a role in Nigeria's youth involvement in election violence.

It is worth noting that every democracy needs a healthy atmosphere to thrive, and this can only be achieved through fair elections. Elections that are peaceful, free, and fair can aid in the smooth transfer of power from one administration to another and give elected authorities legitimacy. 

In light of the above and considering that our country will soon be going to the polls to elect new leaders, we are embarking on a non-partisan sensitization programme to educate young people on the need to shun all forms of violence before, during, and after the electoral process.

We believe in the power of teamwork to build a Nigeria that we will always be proud to call home.
