Young Women in Agriculture Summit: A Path to Food Security and Economic Growth
Food insecurity remains one of the most pressing challenges in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. With over 66.2% of people in the region facing moderate to severe food insecurity, it is clear that urgent action is needed. One key solution lies in agriculture, yet young women (aged 15–25) remain significantly underrepresented in this sector.
This underrepresentation is driven by several factors, including:
✅ Limited awareness of opportunities in agriculture
✅ Perceptions that agriculture is unprofitable or too difficult
✅ Socio-cultural barriers restricting women's participation
To address these challenges, we are organizing a one-day public lecture aimed at increasing young women's participation in agro-entrepreneurship. This initiative seeks to:
✅ Transform mindsets by showcasing agriculture as a business, not just a lifestyle
✅ Highlight low-investment, high-impact agricultural opportunities, such as value addition, processing, and tech-driven agriculture
✅ Encourage sustainable and innovative agricultural practices that align with environmental preservation
✅ Provide mentorship and hands-on knowledge to empower young women to take action
This program is more than just a lecture—it is a movement to equip young women with the tools, skills, and mentorship needed to thrive in agro-entrepreneurship, ultimately contributing to food security, economic empowerment, and community stability.
We are calling on organizations, partners, and stakeholders in agriculture, education, and entrepreneurship to collaborate with us in making this initiative a reality. Together, we can bridge the gap, break barriers, and empower the next generation of female agro-entrepreneurs!
If you are passionate about agriculture, women’s empowerment, and food security, let’s connect and explore how we can drive this impact forward. #WomenInAg #FoodSecurity #AgroEntrepreneurship #SustainableAgriculture #YouthEmpowerment #AgricultureInnovation
