HIV Self Testing Africa (STAR)



DESCRIPTION

ANAYD with funding from John Hopkins University Affiliate (Jhpiego) is implementing the HIV Self-testing Africa Initiative (STAR III) Project in Lagos State; Targeting Adolescents and Young People (AYP) in their diversities. The STAR III project is aimed at distributing 30,000 HIV Self-testing Kits (HIVSTK) among priority groups of AYP aged 15-24 years in Lagos state majorly across 5 LGAs of coverage which include: Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo Odofin, Etiosa, Lagos Mainland and Ojo.

The Goal of STAR III project is“to facilitate rapid HIV Self-Testing (HIVST) scale-up in Nigeria with the aim of increasing knowledge of HIV status and uptake of HIV care and treatment, ultimately reducing HIV-related mortality and morbidity”.

ANAYD and her consortium partners are delivering evidence based intervention towards achieving the set programme goals and strategic objectives using sustainable HIVST interventions to reduce HIV incidence, mortality and morbidity among Adolescents Girls and Young Women (AGYW), Adolescents and Young Key Population (AYKP) and other Adolescents and Young Persons (AYP) in their diversities affected by HIV/AIDS including sexual partners of AYP Living With HIV (AYPLH); increasing their access to and success in HIV prevention, diagnosis, and treatment by addressing the biological, social, and structural drivers of the epidemic using human rights principles, sustainable peer-led approaches and following the Human Centered Design (HCD) principles.
