UDUYARS SYMPOSIUM

DESCRIPTION

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health challenge that requires urgent and coordinated efforts across multiple sectors. In Nigeria, and specifically in Sokoto State, the impact of AMR is compounded by factors such as the widespread use of antibiotics in livestock,  improper usage in humans, inadequate public awareness, and limited access to clean water and sanitation.

To address these interconnected challenges, it is essential to engage not only scientists and healthcare professionals but also creatives, educators, and community leaders who can creatively communicate the importance of combating AMR to a broader audience.

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Young Antimicrobial Resistance Stewards (UDUYARS) is organizing a symposium titled "Uniting Forces: Bridging Science, Art, and Society in the Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance through One Health," scheduled for September 28th, 2024, at the University Auditorium. This symposium aims to foster a unique blend of interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together experts from human and veterinary medicine, environmental science, arts, and community organizations to develop innovative and practical approaches to combating AMR
